False black pepper is a straggling shrub that has long, flexible, slender, and terete branches. The stems are whitish-grey and the roots are brownish grey with reddish hairs. The fruits are small, smooth, and succulent. False black pepper is scientifically known as Embelia Ribes that belongs to the Myrsinaceae family.
The native of this plant is India, Sri Lanka, Singapore, and Malaysia. The seeds of false black pepper have some medicinal properties like anti-helma, anti-carminative, antiinflammatory, anti-astringent, anti-bacterial, and anti-diuretic. In Ayurveda, it is used to treat fungal infections, stomach worms, heart ailments, blood motions, Facial paralysis, backaches, eyebrow pains.
