Shaggy Buttonweed is botanically known as Spermacoce hispida. It is a branched procumbent plant. It grows 10 to 14 cm long. The branches of this herb are greenies or purplish in color. It is stout, ascending, and 4-angled. The leaves are ovate shaped. The length of the leaves is 0.8 to 1.7 cm.
The flowers have 4 to 6 whorls. The native of this herbal plant is India, Malaysia, and China, but now it is widely spread in the Panay, Basilan, Mindoro, Luzon, Laguna, Batangas, and Batan islands because of its medicinal properties.
