Ajwain is a seed-like fruit, which is mostly used in Indian cooking as a part of a spice mixture. It looks similar to the cumin seeds and fennel, and it has a high fragrance smells like thyme. Ajwain is scientifically known as Trachyspermum ammi which belongs to the Apiaceae family.
The native of this spice is Iran, and Asia Minor. It is also called ajowan, omam, omum, caraway, and carom seeds. Adding this spice to the food helps to reduce cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, relieve indigestion, combat peptic ulcers, prevent cough, and reduce inflammation.
