Kapok Buds / Ceiba Pentandra / Marathi Moggu

Kapok is scientifically known as Celiba pentandra that belongs to the Malvaceae family. It is a fast-growing tree that grows up to 70 meters in height. The native of this tree us Caribbean, Mexico, Central America, tropical West Africa, Northern South America. It is mostly cultivated for its seeds, buds, fruits, and leaves.

The Kapok buds have an amazing aroma, so it is mostly used in rice dishes like biriyani. Apart from the taste and flavor of the kapok buds, it has some health benefits. The kapok buds are used to treat diabetes, headaches, fever, spasms, bleeding, rheumatism, hoarse throats, scabies, diarrhea.
